Outlook for the week of March 1 - March 5
Hello to All!
Although it is just Friday, February 26, I wanted to get a jump on next week's blog.
Generally speaking:
For Precalculus:
Thursday was our test for Chapter 6 - Trigononmetric Identities. All other homework and take home test problems for Chapter 6 will be due next Wednesday. Please try to finish these over the weekend if possible. We will begin Chapter 7 on Monday (assuming we have class although Purim celebrations will be taking place). If we are in class, we will begin Chapter 7; Applications of Trigonometric Functions. 7.1 specifically covers applications of trig functions relating to the right triangle. Although this chapter is big on word problems, you all will be very happy to realize that you are already familiar with most of the formulas and concepts from 7.1 and most of the chapter in general. As the week progresses, I plan to get through 7.2 and 7.3, more applications of trig functions. Hope you enjoy this chapter!!!
For Algebra II:
On Monday we need to finish up Chapter 6, related to imaginary numbers. We are running a bit behind in this class, so we need to work really hard. Imaginary numbers (6.8 - 6.10) will take us Monday (assuming there is class), Tuesday and Wednesday. I will give you a take home worksheet (test) over these sections so we can begin Chapter 7 this week.
For Algebra I:
On Monday we will begin Chapter 7 which deals with Systems of Equations. It will be a continuation of the work we have done in Chapters 5 and 6. These chapters covered solving and graphing single equations and single inequalities; Chapter 7 deals with "systems" or more than one equation or inequality. We will be interested in the intersection of these systems of equations, so this chapter will involve putting equations/inequalities in slope-intercept form, graphing them, finding intersection points or areas, and so forth.
For Physics:
We will have a test covering Chapters 13 and 14 on Monday. There is not much information in these chapters; we are interested only in some basic concepts relating to temperature, linear and volumetric expansion, PV=nRT, and from Chapter 14 on Heat we are interested in heat transfer, Q=mcdT Q=mL and concepts of convection, conduction and radiation. Part of this may be take home.
This week and the beginning of next week is unfortunately full of interruptions, with all of the festivities going on.
This is the time of year when AP students really need to focus on what they are doing, and develop some good study habits and make time to put in the extra work. Exams are just over 2 months away!
Interims are due today; this means we are half way through the 3rd quarter already. Time is flying by, and spring break will be just around the corner.
Stay motivated; work hard; plan your time wisely!!!
