Outlook for November 23 - November 25

Good Morning!

This will be a short week due to Thanksgiving Break!!

Work hard and enjoy the time off to relax and be with family!

For Precalculus:

On Monday we'll finish talking about section 4.3 which involves exponential functions.
4.3 problems include: #21,23,26,27,29-36,37-65 odd,67-74,75,79,81

On Tuesday we'll introduce section 4.4 which covers logarithmic functions.
4.4 problems include: #9-65 odd,67-74,75-109 every other odd, 118,119,123

Wednesday is a shortened period to work on all of the problems above.

Please complete as much as you can before Thanksgiving Break. There will be a test on 4.1 - 4.4 on Wednesday, December 2nd over these sections and since I won't be here, it is very important that you get everything in order as soon as possible. As I have said so many times, READ and READ and READ the sections. The text is very well-written and easy to follow. You will make life so much easier if you do this!

For Algebra II:

Today was very exciting; we began Chapter 5 - Polynomials. The first section covers monomials.

5.1 Problems: #25 - 49 odd

Tuesday we'll cover 5.2 Dividing Monomials.

5.2 Problems: #17 - 59 odd

We'll skip section 5.3

On Wednesday we'll have a preview of 5.4 - 5.6 since I won't be here next week. You'll need to rely on good study habits for next week!

For Algebra:

I am concerned that we are not all on the same page - literally.

You should all be up to section 4.5 by Tuesday. The problems from sections include the following:

Section 4.2: 9 - 48 odd
Section 4.3: 14 - 32 all
Section 4.4: 11 - 41 odd

Please work hard! We have just Tuesday and Wednesday and then we are off on a great and exciting vacation! We will see and learn so much!! I am so excited to be going with you all; I have not been to Washington DC since I was in 8th grade which was a pretty long time ago!

Tuesday we'll go over section 4.5 which covers the slope of a line, and finish up any other questions you may have from previous sections.

Wednesday is a shortened period and there will be a quiz covering sections 4.1 - 4.4 with a possible extra credit problem from 4.5 since we will not have had much practice with slope yet.

For Physics:

On Friday we began Chapter 7 - Momentum. It is a relatively short chapter, and we'll be working on problems from our Multiple Choice worksheets as well as our book.

Problems from the text include:
Chapter 7: #3,5,7,15,16,17,19,21,23,25,27**,33

There will be a test on Chapter 7 on Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Please be prepared! On Monday, although I won't be here, you should use this day to work together on the multiple choice worksheet, since this gives examples of concepts.

Have a great short week everybody!

Also have a Happy Thanksgiving with friends and family!!!

I will be joining the 8th grade on Sunday morning for Washington DC and we'll be back very late Thursday evening. I'll see the rest of you on Monday, December 7

Outlook for the week of November 9 - 13

Hello All!

I am terribly sorry that last week's blog is missing; I'll put the assignments up anyway in case you need the problem numbers some time in the future.

For this coming week:

In Precalculus:

We are picking up some speed in Chapter 3 and we have been working on 3.3/3.4/3.5

Everybody is putting a little extra effort and it shows!

Keep up the good work!

We're looking at a test Wednesday and/or Thursday. Due to such time constraints, I'll either make the test two periods, or make part of it take home.

I expect to be through Chapter 3 by the end of this week.

For Algebra II:

We are still working on Chapter 4 which concerns matrices. You all are doing a great job, and this chapter is very unique and interesting. We are learning to add, subtract, and multiply matrices. We are calculating the determinant, and now we are learning about identity matrices and taking the inverse of a matrix.

Neat stuff!!!!

This week I would expect to finish all of Chapter 4 since we are probably about 3/4 done already. We'll have some test midweek on Wednesday and/or Thursday with either two periods allowed or part take home.

Keep up the fantastic effort!

For 8th grade Algebra,

We are finishing up Chapter 3. We have been doing ratios and percents these last couple of days in class and 3.9 which is the section on percents is the last section in the Chapter so expect a Chapter 3 (second half) test on Tuesday, or possible Wednesday if there is some unexpected delay.

After Chapter 3 we will begin a chapter all about graphing points and lines on the coordinate system in x and y. Please have some graph paper, and if possible a straight edge. Get ready for something new and exciting!

For Physics,

We'll begin the week with a continuation of Chapter 6 - Work and Energy with a test (part take home) around Wednesday. Thursday, we'll begin Chapter 7 - Linear Momentum

Problems will follow on line in the next few days.

Have a super week everyone!

Looking forward to seeing you!
