Outlook for week of October 19 - 23

Good Monday Morning!

This will be a busy week for us -- the high school will have a shortened week, just 4 days due to the retreat beginning Friday morning.

In the meantime.......

For Precalculus:

Monday - turn in tests from 2.7 and we'll work on section 3.1 problems which cover quadratic functions.

Tuesday - We'll begin section 3.2 which is Polynomial functions and models. For homework problems, start with # 11 and try every other odd. You can always do more for more practice too!

Wednesday and Thursday will be workdays for this section.

No school on Friday, but expect a quiz on 3.1 and 3.2 on Monday.

For Algebra II;

On Monday we'll begin section 3.8 which covers graphing in the xyz planes - 3 dimensions.

We'll work on problems from these sections.

Tuesday we'll have a worksheet that covers the sections we did from Chapter 3 and you will turn this in on Wednesday.

Wednesday - Begin Chapter 4 which is an entire chapter on matrices. We did one short section on Cramer's rule in Chapter 3 and this will build on that and much much more. It is very interesting and all new subject matter!!!!

Thursday - work on 4.1 problems and possibly 4.2 time permitting.

Friday - NO SCHOOL Have fun on the retreat!

For Algebra I

Monday- Quiz #1 covering 3.1 to 3.3 to be turned in . After that continue problems from 3.4 page 154 #17 - 34 all.

Tuesday - continue section 3.4 with problems 37 - 85 odd.
Time permitting, we'll begin section 3.5 which is titled "More on Linear Equations" We'll do # 5 - 18 together, and I'd like you to work on 19 - 35 odd for homework and/or the rest of the period.

Wednesday: Begin section 3.6 which is "Solving Decimal Equations" Do problems 21 - 35 all

Thursday we'll use as a "catch up" day and answer any questions or complete any assignments that need it.

Friday: I will not be here but I am leaving you a quiz on 3.4 - 3.6 to be turned in at the end of the period.

Physics:

Monday we'll work on problems from Chapter 5 - Circular Motion

Tuesday we'll work on problems covering Gravitation

Wednesday we have a block period and will do lab work!!!

Thursday there is no class

Friday there is not class because of the retreat.

Please re-read over Chapter 5 and finish up problems for a quiz on Monday October 26

Have a great week.

Enjoy the retreat!!!!

Outlook for the week of October 12 - 16

Happy Midweek to All!

I realize we had to rely on paper assignment pages this week, but here is a midweek update for all of you.

For Precalculus:

On Monday we began section 3.1 which is a very interesting unit on graphing techniques concerning parabolas. I handed out a take home exam on section 2.7 that is due on Friday, October 16. Please show all of your work and assumptions.

Section 3.1 is quite long. We had no class today (Wednesday) and so we will finish this unit tomorrow. Friday we can begin section 3.2 although I know that many of you will be out of town. Please read section 3.2 over the weekend if you cannot get to it beforehand. Please see paper based problem assignments for the week.

For Algebra II:

On Monday we worked on Cramer's Rule in Chapter 3. It is a fun and unique way to solve systems of equations. Tuesday we began section 3.4 which concerns graphing systems of inequalities. Wednesday there was no class due to PSAT exams. Hope you all did well. Thursday we will continue working on systems of equations and discuss linear functions which is the latter half of Chapter 3. Please see paper based problem assignments for the week.

For Algebra I:

For 8th graders:

On Monday we had a block period and worked on sections 3.2 and 3.3 which concern solving equations in one and two steps. These are important sections and I want you all to focus and put forth extra good effort on your homework. Please see paper based problem assignments for this week. We had no class on Tuesday; Wednesday we finished up section 3.3 and I am very pleased with the progress of the class. You all are working very hard and this was a long section. The problems were from 7 to 65 odds. A lot of work, but it is very important that you have a good understanding of this. Thursday and Friday we will continue on with section 3.4 which is more indepth work with equations.

For Algebra Independent Study:

You both are making good progress. Keep checking in with me, and please get with me if you have any questions. Do not let things go if you don't have a solid understanding of each concept. It will only make problems for you down the line. Keep up the great effort!

For Physics:

On Monday we began Chapter 5 - Circular Motion and Gravitation. This is an interesting chapter which involves motion around curves, vertical circles, horizontal circles, banked roads, and learning about centripetal acceleration. The second half of the chapter focuses on gravity; problems on a macro scale including planets, the solar system and long periods of time and space. It is very interesting and fun. The problems are paperbased this week. Please see the handout. Wednesday we will begin to discuss the second half of the chapter covering gravitation, and Thursday and Friday will be workdays covering these sections. Be prepared for a test on Chapter 5 on Monday or Tuesday, depending on how the next couple of days go.

Have a great rest of the week everybody!

The holidays are over for a while - we have an uninterrupted schedule until the last week in November when we have Thanksgiving break, so let's make the most of this time!!! We can get a lot accomplished in the next month and really feel good about taking a few days off.

Take care,

Mrs. Little
