Outlook for the week of October 13 - 17

Hello All!

I'm just thinking ahead to next week, and because many of you are traveling and out of town, I thought it would be good to let you know where I expect us all to be by the end of this coming week (October 17).

In general, Monday is a 2:00 dismissal day, so we will have 30 minute periods. Also, remember that I will be in the library on Monday from 2:00 - 4:00 with students who must wait for the bus at 4:00, so if anyone would like to stay a couple of hours after school, this would be a terrific time to ask questions, or do some work with me in either Calculus or Physics.

We have no school on Tuesday and Wednesday because of the holiday.

When we return on Thursday, I would expect Calculus students to have a good understanding of sections 3.1 - 3.6. These sections include the following rules of differentiation: power rule, product rule, quotient rule, derivatives of trig functions and the chain rule. Please work dilligently on these sections, and practice doing problems in which you are using the Chain rule along with trig functions, and/or product quotient rule. These can be tricky!!!!

We are a few days behind in Physics, and we'll do our best to get caught up. The class is going to split into Physics and AP Physics. I think everyone will be happy with this arrangement. Remember, those who choose to take Physics will cover all of the same material as those in AP Physics, however the depth of problems will not be as great, and there will be more time to review and practice. This should eliminate the feeling of being overwhelmed and frustrated. I want you all to enjoy the class as well as learn a lot of Physics!! By the end of this week, we need to have a good understanding of Chapter 5 (as well as Chapters 1 - 4). The specific problems that should be done are listed in the previous post. Many of you are quite concerned about your grades. I have several ideas that will give you opportunity to improve your grades, and I will specify exactly what each of you should do, depending on your choice of class (regular or AP) and your current grade compared to where you wish to be.

I will be adding details to this post in the coming days... I just wanted to give you an idea of what you need to cover on your own, since our time together will be very sporadic during the next 2 weeks.

Take care,

Mrs. Little
