Assignments for the week of March 24 - 28

Good Monday Morning!

Welcome to the first week of the last quarter of the 2007-2008 school year!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

For Physics:

Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday: We'll begin Chapters 18 and 19 - Circuits This will be fun and exciting, and pretty reasonable to understand. We'll learn about capacitors, resistors, voltage, current, and other electrical subjects. I'll post specific problems in the next day or so.

Thursday/Friday: Some worksheet/quiz to summarize circuits.

Next week we'll begin the second large part of the Electricity section - Magnetism, also a very interesting subject.

For Calculus:

After some re-evaluation of how to finish out the 3rd quarter, we are finally ready to begin areas under a curve and volumes around the axes.

We'll work on these two topics all week, and problems will be posted in the next day or so.

Have a great week -- I know you seniors can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but PLEASE stay motivated and focused. As I said last week, you have spring break and this entire summer to relax and have fun. We have about 2 months of important studying for the AP tests, and then you are home free.

See you later.

Assignments for the week of March 17 - 21

Good Monday Morning!

While I'll miss all of you seniors today, I'll have plenty for you to do the rest of the week!

For Physics:

We'll continue our chapters about Electricity. We'll wrap up Chapters 16 and 17 with a test on Wednesday. On Thursday, we'll begin Chapter 18 which will be a very interesting chapter about electrical circuits. Friday will be a lost (although really fun) day because of Purim.

******Friday is also the end of the 3rd quarter. You need to make sure you have turned in the Free Response problems that I had assigned to you. Do not forget!!!!! I will be counting these in your grades*************

For Calculus:

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday you will work on an end of the quarter worksheet/test. You will not be able to work together. This is one last measurement for me to see exactly what you know going into the 4th quarter in preparation for the AP test. I decided to hold off on the area under a curve and volume around the axes until next week. I think it will be better to feel that we've completely finished everything up to that point, and then we'll be better prepared to move on to the last subject.

***************************************************************
We're getting into the home stretch. We've had many disruptions, and it will be imperative that you all buckle down and take these last few months of high school seriously. Finish strong. You'll have plenty of time for fun in the summer.

Please do your best. Get yourselves motivated and put in the time to study and work problems.

I'll be staying after school many days toward the end of March and in April when you all are here to help you study. We can do this!!!!

Assignments for the week of March 11 - 14

Good Tuesday Morning!

Well, it happened again. Another snow day, another storm, more time to make up before our AP exams in May!!!

For Physics:

Today we'll review Chapters 16 and 17 relating to Electric Field and Electric Charge.

Wednesday/Thursday: work on problems from our text and the AP workbook.

Friday: Begin discussion on Chapter 18 (Circuits)

*** We really need to buckle down and take March very seriously. The AP exam puts great emphasis on Electricity and Magnitism, and we need to have a solid understanding of these next chapters. They are mostly conceptual; not a lot of difficult math, but they are very new concepts and I hope you all will work very hard.

For Calculus:

Monday: We'll finish the AP problems covering slope field topics and review natural log and "e" functions and equations relating to slope fields.

Tuesday: We'll return to our book; Chapter 6.4 and 6.5 Problems to be assigned.

Wednesday: Workday on problems.

Thursday and Friday: AP past exam problems; more review of concepts.

We are doing well time-wise. We need to hone in our skills and make sure we have all bases covered. The last major topic to discuss will be areas and volumes under curves. We will begin this topic next week, and spend the remainder of the quarter on that.

Have a great week;

Assignments for the week of March 3 - 7

Good Monday Morning!!!

We all had a super week last week. I was so pleased with the progress in both Calculus and Physics. We have had our schedule so chopped up for some time now with this crazy snow, it was great to actually have 5 days in a row last week, and I feel like we are all back on track.

For Physics:

Monday: Test on Temperature, Heat and Thermodynamics

Tuesday: We'll begin a brand new, never before seen topic in our class -- Electricity and many things related to it. This will be the last major chunk of information we need to learn before the final exams, but we'll also study light and mirrors, and touch on atomic physics.

Wednesday - Friday: Continue to work on problems (to be assigned) from our text and AP work book.

Have a super week -- I'm very proud of you!!

For Calculus:

Monday: We'll take one more day to make sure we are all understanding U-substitution.

Tuesday: Test on U-substitution; this should be pretty smooth for you all, because you seem to have mastered this concept quite quickly.

Wednesday: We'll begin to examine how to calulate area between 2 functions, and this will evolve into calculating volume of 3 dimensional shapes. This will be the last major area that we will study before the spring exam; after this, there are several topics (1 or 2 days to work on) that we will make sure we pick up.

Thursday: Continue with calculations of area between 2 curves.

Friday: Study together problems from past AP exams. Last week was the first time I have tried this with you, and I think it will really benefit you. This Friday we'll focus on a Free Response question from a past AP exam.

Stay focused everyone!!!! This is going to be a great week!!!! I'm very excited about our great progress, and so proud of all of you!!

Have a good week!
