Assignments for the week of January 28 - February 1

Good Monday Morning!

Welcome to the 3rd quarter!!

For Physics:

Monday: Continue Chapter 12 - Sound - spend some time going over funamental frequencies, harmonics, overtones, and some tension, velocity, frequency and sinusoidal equations relating to sound and waves.

Tuesday: Workday - do problems from Giancoli Chapter 11/12 and AP book chapter 11/12. Specific problems to be assigned Monday in class.

Wednesday: Final questions over chapters 11 and 12; study for exam on Thursday.

Thursday: Exam on Waves and Sound; chapters 11/12

Friday: Begin Chapter 13 - Heat. Assign problems over the weekend, due on Tuesday. (Monday will be a workday).


For Calculus:

Monday: We'll take some time to review the final exam. Afterwards, we'll continue on with the end of chapter 4. This involves related rates, and linear approximation, and Newton's Method.

Tuesday: Workday over problems from Chapter 4

Wednesday: Quiz on the end of Chapter 4 (related rates)

Thursday: Review of all of Chapter 4; please come prepared with any questions. Take home packet will be assigned; due Monday.

Friday: Work on packet (review of Chapter 4)

A lot of work needs to be accomplished in the 3rd quarter! Please don't let down. The year is far from over, and the AP tests are just 4 months away!!!

Assignments for the week of January 7 - 11

Good Monday Morning!

Our first full week back in 2008!!!

For Physics:

Monday and Tuesday, work on problems from Fluids - Chapter 10. You should have done the problems from our text: 3,5,7,11,23,27,31,33,35,37. Also, understand the AP book on Chapter 10 which we did together in class last week. In addition, study the Shaum's Outline solved problems that I gave you on Friday.

Wednesday: Test on Chapter 10 - fluids 4 or 5 problems.

Thursday: Begin Vibrations and Waves - a combination of Chapters 11 and 12

Friday: hand out AP sheets for Vibrations and Waves. Problems from Giancoli to be assigned.


For Calculus:

We have several areas that we are working on simultaneously. Remember to turn in your vacation study guide (a review of Chapters 1-3) by next Monday, January14.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - work together as a group (and I will do some examples on the board) and on your own on sections 4.1 4.2 and 4.3 You all have the packet that specifies which problems are to be done. Also, don't forget to do the "Quick Quiz" at the beginning of each of these sections.

Thursday: Test on 4.1 - 4.3 (Graphing and the relationship between a function, its derivative, and its second derivative.)

Friday: answer any questions from the vacation take home assignment over Chapters 1-3. Time permitting, begin section 4.4 in our text.
